Sales continue to soar at Eye of Africa
24/08/2007
Johannesburg, 24 August 2007 — Eye of Africa — Recent sales results at Eye of Africa are a clear indication that the interest in the award winning Australian Developer Medallist’s first golf estate development in the south of Johannesburg remains exceptionally strong.
In June 2006, Eye of Africa released the first 194 stands during exclusive invitation only pre-release events, which were sold in a matter of days. Phase 1 stand prices ranged from R415 000–R1.2 million.
“Because of the depth of enquiries received from prospective buyers who registered their interest on our website for Phase 2, we decided to adapt our sales strategy slightly,” says Brad Tindale, Chief Operations Officer of Medallist South Africa.
According to Mr Tindale, they have decided to release Phase 2 of Eye of Africa in stages and to offer prospective buyers personalised site orientations instead of inviting them to a traditional launch event.
Every person who registered was invited to attend a personalised site orientation, during which time the prospective buyer was given a tour of the site and the available stands. The 99 stands made available for release during June 2007, which ranged in price from R620 000 to R1.395 million, were sold out in two weeks.
“Based on our success rate and the positive feedback we’ve received as a result of this personalised approach, we’ve decided to run future releases in a similar fashion,” says Mr Tindale.
There are several reasons for Eye of Africa remaining an attractive option in the midst of interest rate hikes and the introduction of the National Credit Act. According to Mr Tindale, the fact that Eye of Africa is the first lifestyle development in the southern suburbs of Johannesburg definitely makes it a popular option. The pristine natural environment, generous stands, the superior leisure facilities, the Greg Norman-designed golf course and the price range are other reasons offered for the steady interest in the development.

About Eye of Africa
Eye of Africa is Medallist’s first private lifestyle golf estate to be developed in the southern suburbs of Johannesburg. The developers are Medallist Developments — a joint venture between Greg Norman’s Great White Shark Enterprises and Australia’s leading investment bank, Macquarie Bank — and local players, Pixley World Investments.
Eye of Africa is conveniently located 17km south of the Johannesburg CBD and comprises 667ha of land. When completed, the estate will be home to approximately 1200 freehold stands (Res 1) and 900 sectional title units (Res 3).
Eye of Africa will incorporate hiking and bicycle trails among other healthy lifestyle amenities, within a secured estate environment. The golf course, expertly designed by Greg Norman Golf Course Design, will have minimal impact on the natural environment, by utilising and enhancing the natural landscape features into the shape of the course.
Homes will display a distinct character that complements the site. The architectural vision is to incorporate the use of simple raw materials gleaned from the surrounding Highveld earth fused with European and African designs — all combining into a unique “Afropean” style.
